If you came to our forum last night, you know this challenge is meant to inspire and encourage each of us be the kind of wife that decides each day to lovingly "kiss" the heart of our husband with intentional affections.
The well from which we draw from is not the resource of our own kindness. We need more than the shallow pools of our own affections. Rather, we let the affections of Christ so change us, so fill us, so define us, that we can pour out the abundance of HIS affections onto the people around us. In this case, onto our husbands.
Grace. This is the first area that we will set our minds and hearts on. All other affections spring up from grace. God’s grace is His first expression of His tender, unfailing love toward us. We would never receive any of His other affections if it were not for His grace. We could never deserve His grace, and yet He lavishes it on us.
A wife who has received the measureless mercy of God can draw from its depths to be a woman of noble character- a woman of grace- to her husband and to others. Without it, we will never be a truly gracious woman. We can never give away that which we have not received.
Over the next month this challenge will consist of a DAILY VOW and a DAILY CHALLENGE to pray over, consider, and choose. Many of us think of our wedding vows as something we promised years ago. (How many of us think about these vows each day?) Each daily vow is meant to re-inspire you to be a woman who daily keeps her wedding vow to her husband. You'll find that each vow is based on the Word of God. The DAILY CHALLENGE is a practical idea for living that vow out in your own marriage! Feel free to substitute it for a challenge of your own if it is a better fit for your marriage or your man! Ready to get started? Let's do it girls!
Today’s Vow: To be humble, kind, patient, and gentle with my husband and show him mercy.
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12
Today’s Challenge:
With God’s help choose to be humble, kind, patient, and gentle towards your man and show him mercy even if you do not think he deserves it. This is GRACE.
I wasn't able to attend last night as we were out of town, but I'm planning on doing the challenge. While it was nothing much, I was able to show grace when he forgot the one thing I asked him to do while he was out. Grace can be such an easy thing to give when we think of how much grace we have been given by God!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had been able to make it there last night, but I'm excited to do this!!!
